About

Three founders, ten founding businesses,
every receipt published.

Dylan Alaalatoa

Founder & operator · Sydney · dylan@grafta.com.au

I build the back-office machines — the systems that draft the quotes, chase the invoices, watch the compliance clocks and, for the shops that want it, scan the tender boards. Grafta is those machines, built for one trade business at a time. When you email, I answer. When it breaks, I fix it. There is no support queue because there is no one to queue behind.

What Grafta actually does

The short version: your quotes go out the same day, on your rates, in your words. Your invoices get chased — politely, then firmly, in wording you approved — until they're paid. Compliance clocks get watched daily: licences, insurances, payment-claim windows. Missed calls get texted back before the caller rings the next bloke. Strata and builder work orders become jobs on the board instead of unread emails. And if you chase government, council or strata work, the tender boards get scanned every morning too — only the ones that fit you, texted through with a YES/NO.

Every business gets a different mix. A word-of-mouth sparkie needs the phone and the quotes; a commercial subbie needs the compliance wall and the tenders; a strata plumber needs the work orders. Your 15-minute intake decides your build — that's the whole point.

Why this exists

Every tradie over five blokes has bought software. Simpro, ServiceM8, Tradify — good tools, and most of them end up half-used, because software only works if someone feeds it, and the someone is always you, at the kitchen table, at 9pm. The industry's answer has been more software.

Grafta is the opposite bet: you shouldn't learn anything. The system texts you, you reply YES or NO, and the paperwork happens. It works alongside whatever you already run — Xero, MYOB, ServiceM8, Simpro — as a user you invite, not a replacement you migrate to.

Where it started

Before Grafta took a single client, we proved the machine on a live pilot for a 20-year, ten-person Sydney trade operation. That build taught us the real lesson: no two shops run the same, so Grafta doesn't start with features. It starts with a 15-minute intake and your last five jobs, and the build follows how you actually work — which is why the first thing most clients see live isn't a dashboard, it's their own quote, drafted their way, ready to send.

How we keep it honest

Talk to me

Fifteen minutes of plain questions gets you a free build sheet — what we'd run for your shop, what it costs, what it should save — before you spend a dollar. Or just email me a question; you'll get a same-day answer from the bloke who builds the thing.
